Coach Whilly
Whilly is a retired volleyball player. He played professionally overseas (in France) for many years. Whilly played collegiately at California Baptist University, Riverside California receiving degrees in International Business, BS 2009; and Master in Business Administration, 2011. During his collegiate tenure, he led the team to a NAIA National Championship and was afforded accolades: 3 times All American First team and Most Valuable Player (MVP) in a National Invitation Tournament. Whilly is known for making history in several volleyball collegiate categories such as:
1st player in school history to break the 500-kill mark in a single-season, 595
1st player to set school records for kills in a single-match with 35; total attack attempts with 61
4th all-time in school history with more than1,000 kills
4th most blocks (49) on the team
5th most aces in a single-season in school history with 59
5th most digs, 186 in a single-season in school history
On the international stage, he gained recognition for his outstanding performance acquiring serval team titles and medals:
World Military Volleyball Championship in Kingston, Canada
All African Games Johannesburg, Gold Medal, Best Server and Best Blocker
3 African cups Participation (2 times Bronze medal)
3 World Cups Tournament Qualification
1 Pre-Olympics Qualification
Several time among the best Opposite hitters in the French Pro League.
Whilly decided to put his experience to work by starting SBS Volleyball School. His charter is to provide skills, teamwork and volleyball IQ to those athletes who desire to advance to the collegiate level and beyond. His mantra is to provide the best training that would heighten the athlete’s ability and foster the competitive edge within the core of the athlete’s persona.
